West adding offers

January has been a productive month for Rivals250 to Watch list class of 2014 member Darius West of Lima (Ohio) Central Catholic. The four-star safety has seen numerous coaches through his school and added to his offer list.
The 5-foot-11, 189-pound West is closing in on double digit offers, landing his ninth of the process on Wednesday from West Virginia.

"I have been talking to Coach [Bill] Bedenbaugh a lot and they had just gotten a new safeties coach," West said. "He just wanted me to get on the phone with him and wanted him to offer me. I gave him a call tonight and he offered me.
"I have never been down there, but I plan to get down there for a spring practice to see what it is like. They told me about their base defense and a lot about how their schemes are. We didn't talk too long, but I would rather see it for myself."
Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State have also been through West's school recently and he was assured an offer from the Nittany Lions is on its way.
"Penn State, I always here something good about them," West said. "Joe Paterno is a good coach and had that program rolling, but with Coach [Bill] O'Brien coming in he has a great coaching background, so that's good. I feel they are going to get better and better every year, especially now that Coach turned down an NFL contract. That shows me it is getting serious there."
West is now starting to reciprocate the visits. This past weekend he attended a junior day down at Illinois, which was the first school to offer him a scholarship this past off-season.
"I already had been down there and saw the campus, but I talked to the head coach one-on-one for about 15 minutes and that made a big impact," West said.
West has a junior day visit planned this coming weekend to Indiana, then will start looking at scheduling spring practice visits.
