Werner could walk-on at LSU

Donaldsonville (La.) athlete Dean Werner has many options under consideration with regards to a decision on where to play college football next fall. Included among those options would be a walk-on opportunity at an in-state Southeastern Conference power.
"We're hoping he'll decide real soon, but I'll tell you one thing, he's thinking about walking-on at LSU," Donaldsonville head coach Gary Adkins said. "That would be great for him because it would be a challenge and I think it would be good for him."

Other programs also have shown interest in the 6-foot, 185-pounder.
"Southeastern Louisiana has really picked up the pace on him lately," Adkins said. "He took a visit there this weekend and liked it. He will visit Southern Illinois this weekend. The thing about Southern Illinois is that he really likes them, but it may be too far from home. I get the feeling he might want to stay close."
There are multiple positions Werner could play on the collegiate level according to Adkins, including strong safety, slot receiver and defensive back.
