Werner adds two more offers

Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral 2017 linebacker Pete Werner saw his offer count move to five with to additions from Power Five programs last week.
"I picked up Vanderbilt and Wisconsin," Werner said. "Vanderbilt was last Friday and Wisconsin was the next day when I happened to go down for their game against Northwestern."

Saturday's visit to Wisconsin was the first time Werner has visited Madison, and he came away with a strong impression of the Badger's program.
"It was a great game, it was a great atmosphere and everything was pretty cool," Werner said. "I thought the stadium overall was really, really cool. Leaving Madison I had a good feeling my mind that it was a great place.
"I felt comfortable (at Wisconsin) and Coach (Tim) Tibesar, the linebackers coach, is really nice and showed a lot of interest. I think he is recruiting me as an outside linebacker."
Werner also visited Vanderbilt the weekend before he received their offer, seeing the Commodores host Kentucky on Nov. 14.
"I thought it was similar to the Big Ten," Werner said of Vanderbilt. "The facilities were really cool, they showed a lot of interest and the environment was the same sort of feeling. I don't think the SEC and Big Ten had a big difference."
Northwestern and Purdue were the first Power Five schools to offer Werner in late October. He is also seeing interest pick up from Duke, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Stanford.
"I'll go to a bowl practice at Northwestern around Dec. 5," Werner said. "I also plan on going to Duke this spring, going up for a practice and meeting the players. I have been talking to the linebackers coach every other week or so."
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Werner played cornerback for a 9-1 Cathedral team this past season, but is being recruited primarily for the outside linebacker position.
