Welch getting on the radar late

Houston Cy Falls quarterback Jeff Welch is Mr. Intagible. He led his team to the Class 5A state finals and was named his team's MVP after the season.
That's impressive seeing that Cy Falls is blessed with the likes of Roger Holland (Texas A&M), Derrick Stephens (Texas A&M), and Jack Freeman (UTEP).

Welch (5-11, 190-pounds)has received offers from Army and Navy, as well as Georgetown University. He will be taking official visits to Texas Tech on Jan. 20, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sam Houston and Texas State. Purdue, Arkansas and Kansas are also evaluating Welch as a signal-caller.
"Jeff has always been told he's too short, but I wouldn't bet against him," Cy Falls coach David Raffield said. "He could play in a spread system. He is good throwing on the run and has a tremendous concept of the game."
Welch threw for just over 3,000 this season and took over the starting job last season during another playoff run.
"No doubt he's a winner and a tremendous competitor," Raffield said. "He's just not blessed with the big speed, but he can play."
