Weekend visit influences Butler

Treyjohn Butler had a great weekend visit to Cal and it especially stood out because of the conversations he had with the coaching staff.
"The atmosphere was great," Butler said.

"I was up there Friday night just kind of walking around and seeing everything. It's a great campus overall and the next day we went there for the unofficial. I didn't put my name tag on yet and all the coaches and the assistants knew me and they were showing me around.
"I had a chance to talk to coach (Sonny) Dykes a lot and coach (Greg) Burns and sit down to have a lot of discussions. Overall, it was a lot of fun."
Butler, a 2016 four-star defensive back from Etiwanda, Calif., was super impressed by what the Cal coaches told him and how they envision him in the program. The Golden Bears lost to Stanford but that didn't seem as important as Butler's talks with the coaches.
"Coach Dykes was saying how he's looking for game-changers on defense," Butler said. "He's looking for me to play corner or safety or do both, just making a difference.
"Coach Burns was saying he needs speed. That's why he was saying I could make that difference and that I could keep up with receivers because that's a problem right now."
So far, the 2016 four-star prospect has been offered by Arizona State, Cal, Northwestern, Washington and Washington State. Plenty of other programs are showing interest around the country but Butler said after his conversations this past weekend Cal is definitely going to remain a major player.
"I'm always going to keep them high on the radar," Butler said.
"Not just because they were my first offer but I like the amount of attention and how much they say they need me. Also, coach Dykes is a great guy. For him to have conversations with me, that means a lot."
