Webb commits to dream school

The Woodlands (Texas) wide receiver Blake Webb is a standout in track and has used his speed to impress on the summer camp and combine circuit. However, the 6-foot, 183-pound senior was out to prove his game was more than just speed.
After a strong start to his senior campaign where he has shown off his skills as an all-around receiver Webb received an offer that he simply could not pass up. He did not take long to pull the trigger on a commitment.

"I committed to Oklahoma State about an hour ago," Webb said on Wednesday evening. "Oklahoma State has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. Now that they finally made the offer it is amazing."
Webb received the offer after talking to Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy over the phone.
"Coach Gundy called me today during 4th period at school," he said. "I wasn't able to answer so we had been playing phone tag today until about 8 o'clock. I called him before practice and he missed mine and that went on a few times. We finally got together on the phone tonight and we talked for about 10 minutes and he made the offer."
Though Webb did not know an offer was coming he says he did not have to discuss the idea of a commitment with his parents as he had already done so many times.
"He told me that if I wanted to wait that he understands but I didn't need to," he said. "I really had no idea (an offer was coming). Since this summer my parents and I have been talking and we've pretty much said that if Oklahoma State offers then that is the school I want to go to."
Webb says a number of factors led the Cowboys to extend an offer after the first couple games of the season.
"They saw my last game and they said they liked what I did with the ball," he said. "I also went up there for camp and I guess they liked me there too. I've been talking with coach (Jemal) Singleton and coach (Kasey) Dunn since then and that's what it came down to, just keeping in touch with them and having patience."
Webb has helped The Woodlands to a 3-0 start by recording 11 receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He also has two carries for 62 yards and two more scores.
