Weather blows up at NIKE Camp

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central has been one of the top talent producing programs not just in the Midwest, but in the entire nation the past few years.
And it looks like the class of 2008 will also help carry on that tradition, especially with guys like outside linebacker Anthony Weather around.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder was one of the top linebackers at Saturday's NIKE Training Camp at Purdue University. Even though he had a good junior season, he was probably the biggest surprise at the position at the camp. He is definitely an outstanding outside linebacker prospect. He was probably the most athletic of all the linebackers. He's also rangy and has quick hands.
"I was pretty pleased with my day," Weather said. "I had two interceptions, two knockdowns and I kept everything in front of me. I had a pretty good day for sure."
Weather said he came into the camp hoping to do three things – compete, have fun and learn. He did all three.
"It's something extra to do," he said. "It's something to come out and have some fun and hopefully further my career in football. It was also about competing. I was basically out there having fun, but it's also important to be giving it your all, competing and showing everybody what you got.
"I also learned you have to keep your eyes on the receiver. I didn't get burned, but if you turn your head for a fraction of a second against good receivers like this, you're in trouble. That'll be really true in college."
Weather doesn't have any offers at this point, but he said he's getting plenty of attention.
"A strong performance like this most definitely will help me out," he said. "More college coaches that I've not talked to have now seen me in person and know what I can do. It has to be between IU and Illinois. It really doesn't matter. I want to go somewhere and see some different places."
He also mentioned other schools like Cincinnati, Purdue, Ball State and Central Michigan have been sending him regular mail.
