When Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson Chance Waz decommitted from Colorado last week, he wanted to make sure he did not rush into his next decision. He wanted to take his time and make sure he was ready when he made the call.
Sunday morning, he decided he was ready and made the call.
After talking over his options with his family, Waz decided that Lincoln, Neb., was the place he wanted to call home for his college career.
"I picked Nebraska because not only is it a traditional program and they want to win, but the coaching staff is real good and they don't only care about you as a student athlete, but as a person," Waz said. "I will be able to play as a freshman, and come and make a change. Also having Trai (Mosley) up there is really cool. We have great chemistry."
Waz took his only official visit to Nebraska for the Oct. 15, and following the trip it was clear the Cornhusker program left a positive impression on the Texas standout.
"The atmosphere and the fans were really live and really, really nice," Waz told HuskerOnline. "On this visit I learned a lot from the coaching staff on what they want me to play and what role should I be playing. I just took it all in and I really liked the visit.
"The highlight was probably just seeing the facilities and seeing how it all seemed so big and so new - that and the fans. They were yelling at us telling us they wanted us there and wanted us to commit."
Waz became the 16th commitment of Nebraska's 2014 recruiting class after speaking with secondary coach Terry Joseph and linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator Ross Els on Sunday morning.
With his decision made, he plans to focus on training and school and is done with the recruiting process. Nebraska is scheduled to take an in-home visit next Monday.
After making his commitment he was also excited to see the addition of Terrell Clinkscales.
"I also see we picked up a commit from the top-rated JUCO DT today," Waz said. "They are definitely doing great things."
