"I am just trying to see how the people are down there, really," Watts said. "I know it is a good program football-wise and academically, I just want to see how the personnel is down there."
Watts expects to make the official visit to Syracuse with one of his coaches. He has not scheduled any of his other official visits and is not sure if he will make any college games this fall.
Syracuse was part of a top group Watts identified shortly after de-committing from Western Michigan in August. Kansas, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Tennessee also reside among his favorites. Tennessee is the only one that has not offered yet.
"I'm just waiting for (Tennessee) to offer so I can make some arrangements," Watts said. "I've been getting some contact from Ole Miss, so I'm just trying to see what these teams are going to do late. I'm trying to slow-play it and see what I get."
In the meantime, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound Watts has helped Chicago Phillips pitch three shutouts this season and maintain a perfect 6-0 record.
