Watkins has filled visit list up

Three-star offensive tackle Jason Watkins is one of the fastest rising prospects in the Southeast and his official visit list is now complete with five on the chart.
“I went ahead and set up Oklahoma when they called me late last week,” Watkins, ranked as the nation’s No. 21 offensive tackle by Rivals.com, said. “I’ve already visited Auburn, and I’m going to visit Michigan State this weekend. Then on December 12, I’ll be at Oklahoma. Then in January, I’m going to visit Florida and LSU.”

Watkins, however, is maintaining an even keel when it comes to recruiting. He’s still extremely high on Florida (Jan. 9), LSU (Jan. 16) and Auburn, but said Michigan State and Oklahoma will get a fair shot at landing him.
“I’m going to go through the visit process, take all my visits and then think about what school fits me the best,” Watkins said. “Academics are going to be very important. I want to go to a school that’s going to help me while I’m playing and then after I’m finished and need to get a real job.”
Watkins did admit that he saw some impressive things on his visit to Auburn for the Iron Bowl and that visit will have to be eclipsed by the other teams.
“They really set the bar high,” Watkins said. “I loved every minute of that visit.”
Watkins and his Lake Gibson teammates are playing in the state semifinals this weekend on the road against traditional power Lake City Columbia.
“It’s going to be the game of the week in the state,” Watkins said. “We’re going to have a huge crowd and they’ll be people and coaches from all over there. It’s going to be worth it. We’re going to be ready and beat those guys.”
