Watkins gets offer from his top school

Oh, it's been a big day for cornerback Jaylen Watkins. Earlier, Watkins learned Ohio State had offered him a scholarship. Then later on in the day Florida did as well.
"Florida offered today," Watkins said. "I was supposed to call them and I talked with coach (Vance) Bedford. He said they like me and offered. I had a good talk with him about how they practice and what they expect from their defensive backs. Tomorrow I have to call coach (Urban) Meyer.

"I have been waiting on this one. I was very happy about this one. I have really liked them since I was little. I went to the Miami and LSU games there and it just blew my mind away. Florida is successful and close to home. I really like the coaches there. I went to their junior day and spoke with those guys. Coach Meyer is laid back and cool.
"Florida leads right now. The other schools that standout are Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida State. But Florida is No. 1."
Watkins, from Cape Coral (Fla.) High School, is 6-1 and 172 pounds. He now has scholarship offers from Florida, Ohio State, Florida State, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Duke, Wake Forest, Marshall and Central Florida.
"I have talked with my parents and we would like to take it slow. I want to take it all in but you never know."
