Cary (IL) Grove junior offensive tackle prospect Brett Groves (6-foot-5, 305 pounds) had a strong 2016 junior season for the Trojans and head coach Brad Seaburg. Groves, who took part in Monday's EDGYTIM Underclassmen Showcase powered by EFT Football Academy recaps his latest recruiting news here.
"I had a great time at the showcase on Monday," Groves said. "I liked the fact that I had the chance to get in a lot of reps in one on ones. We run a triple option offense so it's always good to get work in on pass pro."
Groves filled us in on his latest recruiting news this winter.
"I've gotten some mail and a little contact from a few bigger schools like Miami of Ohio, Michigan State, Penn, Illinois along with several smaller level schools. My dream school would be Oklahoma State. My older sister goes to Oklahoma State and it's just an amazing school."
Groves discussed what he feels are his strengths on the field and what he's working on this winter.
"My overall run blocking is a strength. I also have pretty good strength and I just love to get out and blast people. I'm always working hard on my pass blocking. Again we run the football so I always make sure to put extra work into pass pro. I'm also focusing on improving my flexibility and overall quickness."
Does Groves have a player that he admires?
"I really like Bryan Bulaga from the Packers. He's an area guy so everyone here follows him pretty closely."
