Four-star wide receiver commits to Washington State

Miami-based wide receiver receiver Anthony White Jr. will attend college in the opposite corner of the country. The four-star wide receiver committed to Washington State on Monday night. And despite the distance and the fact that he’s yet to visit campus, White is comfortable with his decision.

“I’m not really worried about the distance,” White said. “I have a lot of family members that support me. I’m not going to be homesick. I’ve been exposed to different parts of the world and different parts of the country. I really just love the offensive system, though. It makes you successful to go through that system.”

White plans to visit Washington State in December, but didn’t need to see Pullman to pull the trigger on a verbal pledge. The Cougars’ system and staff were enough to seal the deal.

“It was just Coach [Mike] Leach,” White said. “He was really interested in me. And the receiver coach is a great dude. He had two guys with over 1,00 yards last year. It was system and the pace. I fit well in that system.”

White’s high school teammate, four-star receiver Carmoni Green was also recently offered by Washington State and, according to White, Green was struck by the offer.

“He’s considering Washington State, too,” White said of Green. “We talk about going to school together, but he’s pretty level on his decision right now. He doesn’t know where he’s going.”

White, who transferred to powerhouse Miami Central from Hialeah (Fla.) American, this offseason is ranked as the No. 55 wide receiver in the class of 2017.
