Washington lands D-I transfer

Cornerback Byron Davenport formerly know as Byron Velaga had big dreams when he signed with UCLA out of Long Beach (Calif.) Poly out of the class of 2004. Unfortunately things didn't work out for him at UCLA, but there is a silver lining to the story as he continue his college education and play football in the Pac 10.
Davenport took a visit to Washington this past weekend and committed to Tyrone Willingham and staff.

"I really liked my visit to Washing ton," Davenport said. "It was snowing and the city was really cool.
"The school is beautiful and the field was something else. We could out onto the lake.
"What I really liked about Washington was Coach Willingham," Davenport said. "Coach Willingham is a real cat.
"Coach Willingham is somebody you can really play for," Davenport said. "He cares about you as a person and not just as a football player. He cares about the kind of person you'll be beyond football.
"Coach Willingham talks like a wise man. He's for real. I really respect him and can't wait to play for the man."
Davenport will head up to Seattle in March and will participate in spring ball for the Huskies. He has two years to play two for Washington.
Great get for the Huskies.
