The two-star standout plays tackle for the Longview Lobos, but is drawing most of his interest at guard and center on the college level. At 6-foot-2, 290-pounds he has a long wing-span, quick feet, and a nasty streak, and on Saturday night he helped pave the way for Longview's first win of the season over Monroe (La.) Neville.
"We've been grinding all week for this," Washington said. "We've been trying to pull something out. We've been slacking a little bit. We got it together a little bit tonight, but we can't go anywhere but up from here."
Longview claimed a 19-13 win over Neville to close out the Battle on the Border at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport and move to 1-2 on the 2014 season.
While he is receiving plenty of college interest at this point, Washington is determined to keep his focus on his senior season, but he does have plans to take one college unofficial visit in the near future.
"Probably the TCU game on October 4," Washington said. "I'll probably be headed to that one."
He also has one school who has been showing him more interest than the others.
"Probably (Louisiana) Lafayette," Washington said. "Well the coach I talk to he's pretty cool. He seemed good."
As for naming a favorite, Washington is not ready to put anyone at the top of his list right now.
"I'm not going to say until later on in the year," Washington said.
Washington and the Lobos have a bye week this week with Longview Pine Tree next on the schedule. Longview travels to Pine Tree for a September 26 match-up.
As a junior in 2013, Washington earned second-team all-district honors.
