Warren sets first visit

We were in attendance this past Friday when Long Beach Poly (Calif.) hosted L.A. City section power Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham. Following the game, we caught up with Jackrabbit cornerback Donovan Warren who told us he set up his first official visit and is close on setting visit No. 2.
We anticipated a nail biter between the two SoCal powers but what we saw instead was a blow out win by the Jackrabbits 46-8. Poly lost their season opener to Santa Margarita (Calif.) and many were saying the Jackrabbits were way down this year and in for a long season.

"We made a lot of changes between game one and tonight's game," Warren said. "We know we need to keep getting better and we're a young team that always seems to struggle in close games. When we come out and jump on teams, it always makes us more comfortable and it was big for us to come out do that tonight."
One major change was Warren moving to running back for the Jackrabbits, a position he said he hasn't played since he was eight years old. He led the team with 63 yards on six carries and a touchdown including a 45 yard run on his first carry that set up a touchdown. He really didn't get challenged while playing cornerback but did look great in coverage and in fact, we don't recall one ball being thrown his way all night.
On the recruiting front, Warren said he has first visit to Ohio State set up.
"I'm going to visit Ohio State (Nov. 17) when they play Michigan," Warren said. "I'm also planning to visit Michigan, maybe some time in October but I still need to finalize that date. My plan is to take all five of my trips to out of state schools and then take unofficial visits to USC and UCLA since they're so close. Cal is in-state but it's out of the area so that will probably be an official and I'll visit Oregon too."
