Barry Ware is a wide receiver who put up big numbers in his senior season.
So when pass-happy Washington State started recruiting him the Corona (Calif.) Centennial standout immediately got interested.
In recent months, Ware and UCLA parted ways and now the three-star receiver has found his new home in Pullman. He's definitely excited about the future. Ware committed to Washington State this past weekend.
"It's a great home for me," Ware said. "It's a great fit."
Ware, who finished with 56 receptions for 1,211 yards and 17 touchdowns in his senior season, said the Washington State coaches have done a tremendous job recruiting him in the last few weeks.
Numerous coaches have stopped by Corona Centennial recently and Ware said it was definitely the best fit for him.
"I've known they were recruiting me hard," Ware said.
"Coach (Mike) Leach, coach (Dennis) Simmons, coach (Ken) Wilson and I have been in a lot of contact lately. I've seen them almost weekly at the school and they're making sure I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do and letting me know I'm their top guy on the list."
Other programs were after Ware - especially after he backed off his pledge to the Bruins - but the Corona Centennial recruit said Washington State was the best fit. The Cougars throw so much and he'll have his chance to get on the field early.
"It's great," Ware said. "I have to go up there with the mindset to be ready to play. I'll have the opportunity to play so I have to make the most out of my opportunities and not take it for granted."
