Walton discusses his commitment

Rivals100 offensive guard J.B. Walton committed to Penn State last night over offers from Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, Ohio State and West Virginia among others. We caught up with the 6-foot-3, 275-pounder to get the details on what made him decide to take his services to Happy Valley.
"You know it was a lot of things that made me pick them. Coach Johnson did a really good job and he holds nothing back. He's the one recruiter getting most of the prospects from Maryland since he's from there and that's another factor in me choosing them since so many other players I know are going," he said. "Besides that, I really like the atmosphere and the fact that the coaches are nice and upfront. I also really like that all the players were cool and then Penn State is just a big place.

The four-star prospect is very relieved finally having a decision behind him.
"I feel a lot better now because so many people would ask me where I was going," he said. "Now that it's out I can answer them. It's a big relief off my back."
The coaches have mentioned that Walton may see the field as early as next season.
"They mentioned it a few times and that was another factor in me going there," he said. "I talked to the offensive line coach and he's hoping I can get in there and get the job done. I could be starting next year.
"Over the next few months, I'm focusing on working out, running and staying healthy to get myself ready to compete. I feel if I do what I have to I can bring a lot of speed and energy on the line."
The No. 2 prospect in Maryland had a final word to say to his family and fans.
"Tell the Penn State fans I'm ready to go and I look forward to the next three or four years, it should be great," he said. "I also want to thank my mom and dad, my sister, younger brother and older brother in Iraq. All of them have been behind me and I really appreciate it."
