Wallace schedules first official visit

River Ridge (La.) John Curtis three-star outside linebacker Bo Wallace is all set to take his first official visit on Saturday. He will visit Notre Dame as the Fighting Irish host the North Carolina Tarheels.
"I called them and set it up," Wallace said. "It took me awhile because I had to get setup with the NCAA registration thing. It took forever. I went to the wrong website and another and finally after about an hour of doing it they were like this is the right one."

There is also a reason Notre Dame will get the first official visit.
"I was supposed to take a visit for the Notre Dame for the Michigan game, but I had practice that Saturday and coach JT said no," Wallace said. "So I told them I would take an official soon during the bye week and this is the time."
Official visits during the season do not occur often for John Curtis players, but a couple of in-season opportunities are there right now.
"We have a bye week coming up next week so Saturday morning I don't think we have practice," Wallace said. "We normally have Saturday practice following the game. We're not going to have Saturday practice and we go into our bye week. Bye week and offseason is the only time we get to take officials."
He does not know if he will take another official visit next weekend, but he does know he plans to take more.
"This is the first one I have setup at the moment. I'm sure they're going to be more down the road, but at the moment this is the one."
Who is he looking at for his other official visits?
"UCLA and Texas for sure," Wallace said. "I like Minnesota right now a lot, so Minnesota will get one probably. But for the most part I'm just cruising with the same ones that I started out with. I like Oklahoma. I've been trying to get with coach Montgomery to set that up. It's kind of hard with us being at practice. When I'm at practice he's not at practice and when he's at practice I'm not. It's like that with a lot of coaches I talk to right now."
Notre Dame, UCLA, Texas, Minnesota, and Oklahoma make up his current top five, but he is also quick to point out that he has not made any eliminations.
"It took me awhile to get to the ones I really liked," Wallace said. "I like a lot of the colleges that have offered a lot though. It's hard for me to really make a decision. My family and I just picked five random ones, and if someone bumps up it will vary and change. These are the ones for the moment."
In addition to his top five he is also hearing quite a bit from LSU.
"They want me to come up," Wallace said. "They have been calling a a lot lately and trying to get me to come up, so that might be a sign they are. Because coach Chavis and coach Frank use their one call to me. I watch film of myself all the time from last year and I'm like that was the old me. He was awful and I see myself now and there's a major change. I guess they see a major change and feel I can work now."
For Wallace and his family, the Academic opportunities are as important if not more so than the athletic opportunities presented by each of his choices as he looks to narrow his choices to one final decision.
Wallace and the John Curtis Patriots are currently 5-1 on the season as they head into district play. Friday night John Curtis travels to St. Charles Catholic for their first district match-up.
Wallace has recorded 21 tackles on the season and leads the team in tackles for loss (6) and sacks (3). He also has one forced fumble and one recovery. He is currently ranked No. 27 among the nation's 2015 outside linebackers and No. 20 in the Rivals.com Louisiana Preseason Top 50.
