Walker sees interest pick up

One of the most impressive receivers Saturday at the IMG Madden 7-on-7 West Regional in Redondo Beach, Calif., was Jermel Walker as he showed off great hands, top-level speed and the ability to break free from cornerbacks.
Minnesota and Utah have already offered the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., standout and he said both programs are being seriously considered.

His first offer came from the Golden Gophers and Walker said he's already built a strong relationship with that coaching staff.
"Minnesota is a great team," Walker said.
"I built a great relationship with them. They love the speed, they love my hands and they loved me ever since they saw my film. Minnesota is really high on my list right now. They're a great football program and I like what I've been hearing about the team."
The Utes are also under serious consideration by Walker, a 6-foot, 165-pound prospect who plays with I.E. Elite, and an unofficial visit could happen sometime soon.
"Utah is a great school," Walker said. "I might take a visit out there to see what the campus is like and to see what they're all about."
More teams including Washington State and Oregon State are getting involved with Walker so he doesn't want to make any decisions yet.
The Rancho Cucamonga receiver said he wants to wait a little longer to figure out if other teams are going to offer and then make his commitment later on. Walker said he's in no rush to decide.
"I'm just taking my time in recruiting," he said. "I'm going forward and seeing what kind of options I have as things keep picking up. I'm just going to take it slow."
