Wake picks up new verbal

After last season's remarkable run through the ACC, Wake Forest picked up several early commitments from solid prospects. The Deacons have hit the state of Florida hard in this recruiting class, but their newest verbal hails from Maryland.
Linebacker Joey Ehrmann verbally committed to Wake Forest last night, spurning offers from Duke, Iowa and Syracuse.

"I let the coaches know and I feel like it's just the right decision," Ehrmann said. "They were looking to fill one spot and they had offered two guys, so I wanted to go ahead and make sure I made my decision in time. I just think it's a good opportunity for me."
What does Ehrmann like about Wake?
"First off, I really like the defensive scheme they use," he explained. "They want me to come in as a SAM linebacker and I think I'd be a good fit there. Wake Forest just offers a great degree too. I've only been down there once and that was over the summer, but I know this is where I need to be."
In the end Ehrmann had narrowed his options to Wake Forest and Duke. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker from Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School will bring an impressive skill set to Winston-Salem.
"I think I have a lot of speed and that helps me out a lot. I can rush the passer well but I can also drop back into coverage. I've been playing really well this year. We got off to a rough start but we've won two in a row and our record is back up to 3-3."
Ehrmann classifies himself as a solid verbal and will not visit other schools. He plans on attending Wake Forest's game against NC State later in the year.
