Wake Forest adds local LB Dorty

Wake Forest added a commitment this week from Mount Ulla (N.C.) West Rowan linebacker Tristan Dorty. The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder selected the Demon Deacons over an offer from Virginia and interest from North Carolina, North Carolina State and others.
"The decision for Tristan really came down to the coaching staff and the relationship they developed with him and his mother," he said. "I know he really liked his recruiting coach, Brad Lambert a lot. I think he just felt comfortable and at home at Wake Forest and he is very happy with his decision."

The Deacons will try out Dorty at linebacker first, a change from the defensive end position he plays in high school.
"I know they are interested in him at Sam linebacker," he said. "They saw him this summer in one-on-one drills and performed well there. If that doesn't work out, then they can beef him up and he can get his hands in the grass on the defensive line.
"Overall Tristan is a very physical and explosive player. That is his strength; he has tremendous aggressiveness and explodes on a play. He is also a very good student that will be graduating on time."
