Fontana (Calif.) Kaiser three-star running back Anthony Brown has been blowing up this spring at event after event. But for some reason he was still waiting for his first scholarship offer.
The wait came to an end on Tuesday afternoon.
"I got my first offer today from UTEP," Brown, who is 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, said. "It's exciting to get that first one in the books. I don't know much about UTEP, but I talked to the coaches today on the phone, and they were really excited about me."
Brown said he talked with UTEP assistant DeChon Burns about the offer.
"Coach Burns was a cool guy," Brown said. "He was really fun to talk to. I'm going to definitely do some research on them now that I've got that offer."
Other schools are heavily interested in Brown, despite the Miner offer being his only one so far. He's been linked to schools like Arizona State, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Washington, Boise State, Nebraska, Tennessee and other Pac 10 and Mountain West programs.
As a junior, Brown earned first-team all-league after rushing for 1,010 yards and 11 touchdowns while having to share touches with a senior. In 2009, Brown will be the featured back for Kaiser.
