Wade picks up huge offer

Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic defensive lineman Myles Wade is one of the elite tackle prospects in the West region this year and a great early season pickup for Oregon. Wade is still very solid with the Ducks but a phone call earlier today from none other than the national champion Florida Gators is definitely giving him something to think about.
Wade, 6-2, 325 pounds was caught completely off guard when he received a call today from the Gators.

“Honestly, just sitting here right now, I still can’t really believe it,” Wade said. “The whole time when I was on the phone, I kept thinking it was a prank call or something. I kept checking my phone and sure enough, it was a Gainesville area code but I just never expected to get a call from Florida.
“Florida never recruited me, I mean I never even got a letter from them. All of a sudden, I get a call today and I was in such shock, I don’t even remember what the name of the coach was who called me. He was asking me about the game against Ohio State and asked me if I watched it.
“I totally I did and he asked what I thought about their defense. I told him how impressed I was and then he asked what I thought about the defensive line. He then asked if I could see myself playing on the same defensive line in the swamp and said he wants to keep me out there for a visit.
“I told him I was committed to Oregon but he said they would still like to trip me in. I told him I didn’t want to be too forward but was the fact that he wanted to trip me in mean they were offering me a scholarship and he said absolutely.
“Right now, I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do. The coach told me he’s going to text to me tomorrow and also left me his number for me to call him if I have any questions. Regardless if I trip or not, it’s such a huge honor to be offered by the national champions. I’m still kind of in shock right now and have to take a step back and try and process everything.
“I’m very happy with my commitment to Oregon and excited to be a Duck. At the same time, the idea of taking a visit to Florida is very intriguing as well so I’m just going to take the next couple of days and really evaluate what I should do. Hopefully by the weekend, I’ll know what’s going on but my mind is just racing right now.”
