Wade has change of plans

The top overall prospect in the entire NW region next year in our eyes is Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic defensive lineman Myles Wade. At the NIKE camp in Oregon this past weekend, Wade told us this week was going to be the week he planned to make his college choice. He didn't give too many hints but from talking to others close to the situation, it looked like Oregon might just edge out in-state rival Oregon State but all announcement plans have now been put on hold for awhile.
Wade, 6-2, 322 pounds had a monster showing at the NIKE camp and was easily the top college prospect in attendance. The talented tackle prospect was dominant at the NorCal NIKE Camp in mid May but bettered just about every one of his testing numbers at Oregon and was a man among boys in the one on one and position drills.

The athlete clocked a 5.14 in the 40, went 5.22 at Stanford, did 40 reps on the bench, up from 29 at Stanford, jumped 28 inches in the vertical and clocked a 4.56 in the shuttle and his 80.95 SPARQ Rating was one of the best by any lineman we tested all spring.
"This was going to be my last ever high school camp or combine so I really wanted to go out as the most dominant player there and I think I proved that," Wade said. "I'm not trying to sound cocky but that was my goal and what I worked for. Hopefully the next combine I work out in will be in Indianapolis (NFL combine)."
On the recruiting front, as we mentioned, Wade has had a change of heart about making his decision this week and will now take a few unofficial visits before sealing the deal.
"I thought I was ready but I wasn't," Wade said. "This is a huge decision and I don't want to rush in to anything. I didn't want to make my commitment somewhere and then have second thoughts or regret what I did a week later. Right now, there are four main schools I'm looking at, but I haven't closed the door to anyone and will still consider any school who shows interest in me.
"I'm going to take unofficial visits in the next few weeks to Oregon and Oregon State. All I've seen so far is the football part of the school and I want to check out the rest of the campus this time. I want to see what it would be like to be a regular student, talk to some teachers, things like that. I want to major in Sports Fitness and I'm interested in doing training when I'm done with football so I'm going to check out how all the schools stack up in that department.
"USC and Notre Dame are two other schools I like a lot who have shown a lot of interest recently. My dad talked to Coach Carroll and he said they just want to see me at their camp at the end of the month before they offer me. They made it sound like it's just a formality for me to go out and I'm a competitive guy and have no problem going up against other players so I think there is good chance I'll do that.
"I also talked to Notre Dame in the last week and they told me they just need to see my transcripts before they offer. My transcripts are good so I'm going to send them up and see what happens there. I still want to commit early and could decide by the end of the month but if at the end of the month, I'm still not sure, then I'll wait a little longer until I'm 100% certain and will likely decide sometime in July."
