WAC offer for Mississippi QB

The first scholarship offer is in for one of the top sleeper prospects in the state of Mississippi for the Class of 2008. Fulton Itawamba quarterback Bret Jefcoat got his first offer in the mail this week from a program just one state away.
"Louisiana Tech offered me," Jefcoat said. "They sent me a letter. It says that they need me and are very interested in me coming over there. They said that I fit into their program well."

The 6-foot, 203-pounder has been to Ruston, La., and the campus of Louisiana Tech before and came away impressed.
"I have a cousin that goes there," he said. "I went and watched them play Fresno State. It seems like a good program and I thought that the stadium was very nice."
Jefcoat also likes the prospects of playing in the Western Athletic Conference.
"Everyone in that conference is pretty tough," he said. "It's nothing like the SEC. I mean, they have good speed in the WAC and all but they are not as powerful. But there are some very good teams in that conference."
In addition to the offer from the Bulldogs, Jefcoat feels like Arkansas State could be close to offering. Ole Miss and Mississippi State also continue to recruit Jefcoat. He recently camped in Oxford and will be heading back in July, along with a stop in Starkville.
Jefcoat had more than 1,700 yards of total offense during his junior year.
