WA QB staying in-state

Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes quarterback Calvin Schmidtke became the third player from his school to make a Div I commitment announcing for Washington State Thursday night.
Schmidtke, 5-11, 180 pounds is a signal caller that has impressed us quite a bit over the last two years. He's a three year starter, shows up well on film and looked good at the NIKE Camp and a pair of Elite 11 workouts last summer.

The quarterback doesn't have the size some Div I schools look for, but he does have a live arm, is very smart and can beat you with his arm or his legs.
"They offered me last night and I committed on the spot," Schmidtke said. "I was really excited about and was hoping to get the offer from Washington State ever since Coach Wulff came over from Eastern Washington.
"I camped at Eastern Washington in the summer and they offered me a scholarship at that time. So I already have a really good relationship with coach Wulff and the rest of the staff. I think I fit in really well with the offense they're bringing in and I'm excited to play close to home and in the Pac 10."
