The VTO Elite 100 Camp, with exclusive coverage from Rivals.com, makes its way to the Garden State this weekend with the action getting underway at the Votee Park Sportsplex in Teaneck, N.J. on Saturday.
Included among the list of scheduled participants are multiple 2015 prospects that are already drawing major college attention. Most notable is New Rochelle (N.Y.) Iona Prep linebacker/defensive end Qaadir Sheppard, who holds seven offers and a current recruiting top three of Boston College, Rutgers and Syracuse.
Jersey City, N.J., native and Hoboken High School offensive tackle Daniel Clifford is another intriguing name to know. Iowa State recently extended the 6-foot-2, 325-pound Clifford his first verbal offer, and Connecticut, UMass, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and others are showing interest.
Finally, Linden running back Kyle Phipps has drawn the attention of several FBS programs this spring, including Temple, Pitt and Cincinnati. Undersized at just 5-foot-8, 175 pounds, Phipps is nonetheless a dynamic athlete.
In the 2016 class, Bergenfield athlete Jovani Haskins is one to watch. The younger brother of 2015 standout D.J. Haskins, the younger Haskins has drawn looks from Monmouth, Southern Connecticut and Navy during the spring evaluation period.
Additionally, six members of the 2017 class and two current eighth-graders (class of 2018) are among the anticipated attendees, which should provide a quick glimpse at some names to keep an eye on over the next several seasons.
The event, which is invitation only, is comprised of the top performers from various 2014 VTO combines and other outstanding players from throughout the Northeast who have been nominated for competition. Six states -- New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts -- are represented on the camp roster.
Eight positional MVP's will emerge from the pool of participants, as well as three invitees to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour in Baltimore in June and one to the Rivals250 Underclassmen Challenge in Jacksonville in July.
