VT lands R250 DT Settle

Virginia Tech may have missed on a lot of the top in-state talent in 2015 but the Hokies landed a big one in Rivals250 defensive tackle Tim Settle. The Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson star is very familiar with Virginia Tech and it just seemed inevitable that Settle would end up in Blacksburg.

"I have a great opportunity there," said the 6-foot-2, 325-pound Settle. "A lot of people from Virginia go there so we have a lot of chemistry. I've been up there over ten times so I know everybody, where everything is and all the coaches. Everything is just familiar."
There was some speculation that long time Hokie defensive coordinator Bud Foster would leave for another job. Foster staying put in Blacksburg made a big impact on Settle.
"I'm glad coach Foster is staying," he said. "We're very close."
Settle is looking to have a big impact on and off the field.
"I expect to have an impact as a freshman," Settle said. "I know I'll have to work for it though. I don't want anything given to me.
"I think it will be a big improvement (in recruiting)," he said. "They said if I go there it will help bring a lot of other big recruits in. I think I can do that as well."
This past season, Settle recorded 72 tackles, 20 tackles for a loss, deflected 10 passes, forced three fumbles and got three sacks.
