One of the nation’s top offensive tackles has been going back and forth between leaders. After leaning toward Tennessee earlier in the recruiting process, who has caught up to the Vols in the battle to land Chicago Harper four-star offensive tackle Roland Martin?
“I go back and froth between Tennessee and Oklahoma,” Martin, who is 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds, said. “I would say that it’s a slight lead for Tennessee. Tennessee has some great coaches, great players and the ability to put kids in the NFL.”
But Martin admits that the Sooners also have a great appeal.
“They’re No. 1 this year,” he said. “And they’re not going to lose a game. I just don’t see anybody beating them. They’re just playing too well for anybody to catch them.”
Martin said he hopes to line up trips to Knoxville and Norman here in the next week. Michigan State and Iowa will also get visits and it’s never too early to count out the Spartans, he said.
“I camped at Michigan State when I was a sophomore,” he said. “I’ve really liked them a lot ever since. I have a great relationship with the coaches that are recruiting me.”
Martin has a 2.7 grade-point average and is still awaiting his test results.
