Vols, Rebs keeping tabs on sleeper QB

The quarterback of Tennessee’s top-ranked team remains patient as he waits to see where he stands with a number of schools in the recruiting process.
“I haven’t gotten an offer yet,” said Montgomery Bell Academy’s Michael Fisher. “I’m still getting some calls, though, mostly from Tennessee and Ole Miss -- a few from Vanderbilt. Coach Rutledge says he’s getting a few coaches calling him about me, too, so hopefully something will develop soon.”

Fisher (6-2, 187, 4.7) was the MVP of the state D-II championship as a junior after passing for 2,600 yards and 22 touchdowns. He’s got the Big Red headed toward back-to-back titles this season with an 8-0 record and the No. 13 national ranking in USA Today.
“Tennessee told me they’re looking for a quarterback to step in and lead them for the next four seasons,” he said. “They say it’s a big priority for them in this class. That’s real appealing to any quarterback, especially for a program like that.
“Ole Miss says for me to just keep up the good work and that they have their eye on me. I’ve watched them and the success that Eli Manning has had. I like their offensive style a lot.”
Vanderbilt, where his father played, is also in the mix. North Carolina, Iowa and LSU have been in the picture along the way. Fisher says he’s not listing any favorites at this point, however.
Baseball is another option. He’s got a strong chance to be signed by a major college or drafted next June as an infielder.
Academically, he carries a 3.2 GPA and has scored a 21 on the ACT.
