Vols, Rebels battle for CB

Batesville (Miss.) South Panola defensive back Demario Bobo has named a pair of SEC schools as the favorites to land his commitment.
“Right now, it’s Ole Miss and Tennessee battling it out for me,” he said. “They’re pretty even, but Tennessee might have a slight edge right now after that big win over Miami. I watched that Saturday. I was real impressed with their team and the way they shut down Miami. You don’t see many teams do that.

“I also like Tennessee’s coaches. I think it would be nice to play for coach Fulmer. He does a great job there, and a lot of their players go on to play in the NFL.”
And what about the Rebels?
“They’re having a great year,” Bobo said. “I’ve been to see them a few times – the Texas Tech game, the Arkansas game and the Alabama game. They have real nice coaches. The head coach is really cool. One thing about them, they play a lot of young guys. I think I would have a pretty good chance to go there and play early. I like their their 4-2-5 defense, too. That’s a good style for defensive backs.”
Does anyone else have a shot to get into the picture?
“Maybe Alabama,” he said. “I’ve always liked their program and their tradition. If they offer, I might take a visit there.”
Florida, Florida State, LSU, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Memphis have also been showing interest.
No official visits have been scheduled at this point.
Bobo (6-1, 175, 4.49) has been one of the top cover men in the Magnolia State for four years now. He entered his senior season with 20 career interceptions and has added four to that total. He also has 70 tackles and 15 pass break-ups this year in helping lead South Panola to a 10-0 record entering the Class 5A playoffs.
Academically, he maintains a 2.5 GPA and is awaiting his ACT scores.
