Vols pick up South Florida wide receiver
The culmination of Shocky Jacques-Louis' recruitment came quickly. There wasn’t much time between the announcement of his shortlist of finalists and his Monday commitment to Tennessee. The athlete's pledge, like most these days, came with a tweet. In that way, this was standard.
The reasons behind his choice also fit the modern mold.
“Tennessee always had that family type environment,” Jacques-Louis said. “You know I have a big family down here in fort Myers, so just feeling that in the Tennessee facility grasped my attention.”
Then, there were the personal relationships. Jacques-Louis has some semblance of vibe with many members of the Vols’ coaching staff. One coach in particular, however, helped seal the deal.
“Coach [Kevin] Beard is one of the coolest coaches in the world,” Jacques-Louis said.
A three-star prospect, Jacques-Louis is currently outside of the both the position and national rankings, but is in line for a bump when new Rivals.com rankings debut later this week. His brother Rocky, a linebacker in the class of 2018, is currently committed to FIU.
Both Rocky and Shocky Jacques-Louis attend Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar High School.
