Vols offer Indiana athlete

South Bend (Ind.) Washington athlete David Perkins hasn't started to narrow down his list so he's open to any schools that might come along with offers.
Tennessee is the latest school to offer Perkins and he learned of that development on Thursday.
Perkins, a 6-foot-2, 209-pound prospect, was excited about the offer from the Volunteers but is trying to keep a level head.

"They came by (Thursday) and offered me," Perkins said of Tennessee. "Right now teams have been coming in probably because of my performance at the (Columbus) Nike Camp. A lot of schools have been picking up their interest. I'm just taking it all in. It's fun. I'm having fun with the whole thing.
"Tennessee's a great school. They're going to be back in the hunt this coming season I'd say. It's a prestigious school and they've got a lot to offer. They've got good coaches and a good setup and everything. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out."
Perkins said he thinks he will probably visit Tennessee at some point.
The Vols have plenty of competition, of course. The Indiana athlete said Ohio State, Florida State and Penn State are showing serious interest.
Penn State could be the next to offer and he said he's expecting an offer from the Buckeyes as well. Perkins believes the Seminoles will offer if he takes a trip to Tallahassee.
What's his plan from here?
"By midsummer I'm going to narrow it down to my top five and then plan to visit those schools," he said. "I think Tennessee might be one of them."
The Vols haven't secured their spot yet, though. Only one school has.
"I know Syracuse is the only school that's locked in," he said. "They just have a lot of stuff that I like. They have a lot to offer me. I built a strong relationship with them early on and I'm one of the top players on their board."
All of the schools recruiting Perkins are telling him they would bring him in as an athlete and then determine where he fits in best. Perkins said he doesn't have a position of preference and just wants to get on the field.
