Over the summer, class of 2015 Nashville (Tenn.) John Overton defensive back Ugo Amadi turned heads on the camp circuit all across the Southeast. Now the Rivals250 watch list defender is reaping the rewards.
Amadi recently received offers from Duke and Ole Miss, adding to an impressive list that already includes Tennessee and Kentucky.
"It's been amazing," Amadi said of the interest. "All the hard work and training has been paying off and it helped me get better. Those offers have been a blessing."
Amadi shared his thoughts on the two newest schools on his list.
Duke: "I know some stuff about their football program. They're good on defense and it's a school where you can get a really good education, which is something I really take seriously. They surprised me with the offer but their defensive backs coach, Coach (Derek) Jones, is really good. I've had a good conversation with him for the past few days and I'm going to keep in touch with him."
Ole Miss: "I'm a huge fan of Ole Miss when it comes to defense. I always watch when they play defense and they have some good players. They had a huge win against Vanderbilt and the defense played well. I think they'll keep getting better and hopefully take their play to the next level."
Tennessee continues to be the school that Amadi has the most interest in, and he'll be paying close attention to the Vols game this weekend against Oregon.
"I talk to them pretty frequently," he said. "I talk to Coach (Tommy) Thigpen and keep him posted. They will be a high choice for me. They have a good defense as well and they showed what their defense is about against Western Kentucky by forcing all those turnovers."
He also offered a prediction for Saturday's game.
"Oregon isn't that good defensively," Amadi said. "Tennessee is going to show up ready to play. I know they can do it."
Amadi is working on scheduling visits for the fall, but he's already planning on being in Oxford for the Rebels game on Oct. 5.
"I'm going to visit Ole Miss and Tennessee for sure," he said.
