Skinny: Williams is one of the top cover corners in the state of South Carolina this year. He shuts down one side of the field and hopes to continue his success from last year.
“I like to be one-on-one with the wide receiver. I like to study them a little bit,” he said. “I like tackling and I love hitting. I’m going to try to lead my team back to the state championship."
Williams is an excellent student and works even harder in the weight room. He currently boasts a bench press of 265 pounds. Although he excelled last year, he only wants to improve.
“I’m trying to stay in the weight room and in condition. I’ve been working on the mental part of the game. I just want to better myself."
Williams has been receiving attention from about every school in the Southeast. Cover corners are at a premium and you can tell by checking his mailbox. He hasn’t received any offers at this time but that should change soon. Williams spoke about what he’s looking for in his college choice.
“I really want to go to a school that if I don’t make it in football, I can still go on with my education,” he said. “I also want to stay close to home."
The top schools of interest so far include Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. He spoke about each of his favorites.
Tennessee: “I like the coaching staff up there. One of my fellow Bearcats (Jonathan Hefney) is going up there.”
South Carolina: “I like how the coaches are very respectful and I like the facilities, too. It’s place you would like to be at.”
North Carolina: “I like their program. It’s a good school academic and athletic wise.”
Williams plans to attend summer camps at Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, and the Nike camp at Virginia Tech.
