Vols, Gators lead for elite LB Ayers

Four-star Bennettsville (S.C.) Marlboro County linebacker Robert Ayers has dropped one school from his list and named co-leaders in his recruitment.
“I’ve got it narrowed down to a few schools,” he said. “If I had to choose right now, it would be Tennessee or Florida. They’re just the schools that have recruited me the hardest, and I have a good feeling about them.

“But I’m probably going to visit Florida State and N.C. State, too. I was going to visit Georgia, but I’ve dropped that one. They just haven’t been keeping up with me like the other ones have – especially Tennessee and Florida. I like their coaches a lot, and I feel like I know more about their schools than any other.”
Ayers (6-3, 218, 4.68) is coming off a senior season which saw him record 112 tackles and four interceptions.
He has official visit dates scheduled with Tennessee for Jan. 16 and Florida for Jan. 23, although that one may be shifted to Jan. 9, for which he previously had reserved for Georgia.
He’ll round out his visits with N.C. State on Jan. 23 or a mid-week trip, and Florida State on Jan. 30.
