Copperas Cove, Texas running back Troy Vital has had a tremendously successful junior year. Vital helped lead his team to a Texas Class 4A state championship game and was an integral member of his school's state champion track squad.
Vital (6-foot, 190-pounds) rushed for more than 500 yards and ran the state-winning relays teams for the Copperas Cove track team. He also finished third in the state in the triple jump.
His college choice had a lot to do with being able to fulfill his dream of being a two-sport athlete.

"I verbally committed to the University of Houston," Vital said. "I really like the coaches and that indoor facility. I also like their track program and coach Leroy Burrell and hope to also run track for them."
Vital unofficially visited Houston in May and also held an offer from Tulsa.
"I think I fit into Houston's system because I'm a big, fast back that can catch out of the backfield," he said. "I will be featured more in our offense this year and will be catching some balls."
