LONG BEACH, Calif. – Camren McDonald wants to make two things perfectly clear: He’s a firm commitment to USC. And he’s going to take official visits.

“I’m a solid commitment,” McDonald said after Long Beach Poly lost to Mission Viejo on Friday night.

“I just don’t want to pass up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. SC doesn’t have an issue with it. I’m going to give SC their shot, too. Since I’m committed to SC, that’s going to be my last official visit. I should be an early enrollee to SC but I’m still just leaving my options open but I’m a firm commitment.”

As for where the four-star tight end plans to visit, McDonald said he will see Florida, Texas A&M, Georgia and USC and then he will figure out his fifth trip soon.

The Gators are of particular interest since McDonald’s teammate at Long Beach Poly – four-star quarterback Matt Corral – is committed to the Gators and is actively pursuing top California talent including McDonald and five-star receiver teammate Jalen Hall among others.

McDonald is going to head to Gainesville so Florida could still be a player in the four-star’s recruitment.

“(Corral) tells me to go on the official with him,” McDonald said. “He feels the official is going to be what flips me. I am a firm commitment but I am going to take that official though.

“I love playing with him. I love the way he gets me the ball. We might end up together in college but you never know.”

The Long Beach Poly standout is going to take other visits and see other schools but USC might not have much too worry about when it comes to his commitment.

McDonald has been pledged to the Trojans for months and when asked how he wants to be utilized in college, the four-star points to a current USC player.

“They’re just excited for me to come and I’m excited to get there,” McDonald said.

“I want to be used as a pass-catching tight end, the matchups I could get on the inside. I could spread out, too, but just like how they use Daniel Imatorbhebhe.”
