Visits open Clemons eyes

Brandon Clemons recently took a trip south to visit a pair of schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference and apparently the visits opened his eyes.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pound offensive guard from Milford (Pa.) Delaware Valley admits that he hadn't been quite as open to a wide variety of schools as he now realizes he should have, but he doesn't plan on making that mistake again.

"I went down to Maryland and Duke this weekend," Clemons told Rivals.com. "At Maryland I had a chance to talk with the coaches. I talked to the head coach, coach (Ralph) Friedgen. It was really a hands-on thing.
"I went down to Duke for their Blue-White scrimmage that they do. I sat down and talked with the head coach (David Cutcliffe) a little bit. It was a nice game and the campus was probably the best campus I've ever seen.
"I had always heard great things about Duke for academics but I wasn't expecting the campus to be that nice. Then we walked in and saw the basketball court. That was crazy.
"Coach Cutcliffe has this thing called the 'Four F's' -- family, future, football, and I'm missing one of them," he laughed. "It was good, though."
Clemons won't say what schools had an edge going into those visits, but he admits he had started to think about favorites.
"I can't lie, I didn't realize how great all those schools are," he said. "Until now I had just been thinking about a couple of schools. Now I'm really thinking about more."
Clemons will be at Boston College on Tuesday and Rutgers on Saturday. Next week he will be at Penn State, Pitt and West Virginia.
