Visits important for Johnson

Minneapolis (Minn.) North athlete Tyler Johnson was not going to render a decision until he was able to see college campuses and compare his options. With that task still uncompleted, the three-star prospect remains open in his recruiting process.

"At this point I am still uncommitted," Johnson said. "I still have to take visits and all the schools that have offered me are up there."
The four schools that have offered Johnson are Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He is currently in the process of seeing when he can visits those schools.
"I am looking forward to going to some soon," Johnson said. "I would like to take official visits, but I obviously will go to a few games. I've looked at a few schedules and am trying to plan it out perfect. The decision should be made after I take at least a few visits, see where I feel comfortable at."
Johnson's close proximity to the University of Minnesota allowed he and his father to sit down with Gopher coaches Jerry Kill and Mike Sherels at the end of August.
"It went pretty good," Johnson said. "We sat down and got to catch up. We asked a lot of questions and they answered a lot of questions."
The 6-foot-2, 179-pound Johnson was recently selected to play in the Semper Fi All-American Bowl in January. He has helped Minneapolis North get out to a 2-0 record this season while playing both quarterback and defensive back, registering 9 total touchdowns and two interceptions.
