Visits beneficial for Smith

Neptune Beach (Fla.) Fletcher three-star running back Jamari Smith used his spring break to check out a number of interested colleges.
"I went to South Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, and N.C. State," Smith said.

Smith, who has offers from Arkansas, Florida International, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern Miss, Wake Forest, and West Virginia, said the trips will help him throughout his recruitment as they gave him an understanding of what he wants in his future home.
"The visits were really helpful," Smith said. "They helped a lot. They were a great experience and they will help in the long run. The stuff I picked up over the tours, it definitely has helped me to realize what I want in a college."
Two of the schools stood out to the 6-foot, 200-pound back.
"I really liked South Carolina and Wake Forest," Smith said.
Smith shed some light on what stood out about the Demon Deacons and Gamecocks.
"Wake Forest is a great place with a lot of nice people there," Smith said. "I enjoyed it a lot. I think they have a great football program.
"South Carolina was a good environment," Smith added. "They were a lot like Wake Forest, a lot of the same things and same interests (to me)."
Smith mentioned plans to visit South Florida, likely during the latter part of this month. He said his other visits will likely come during the summer and then official visits during the season.
Despite double-digit offers and some visits under his belt, Smith isn't rushing to the next stage of the process.
"At this point, I don't really have any true leaders," Smith said. "I am still weighing my options. Hopefully during the spring more schools will come. I will probably have a good mindset with regards to where I want to go after then."
As a junior, Smith rushed for 2,178 yards and 24 touchdowns on 295 rushes.
