Visit moves Purdue ahead for Knevel

Three-star offensive tackle David Knevel has seen his recruitment take off in the last couple months with offers in hand from nine schools. This past weekend the 6-foot-8, 295-pound Canadian took his second official visit of the recruiting process, making his way down to Purdue.
"It went very well," Knevel said of the Purdue visit. "I had a great feel for the place and it was a great visit. I had been there this summer, but only for a day. This time was amazing and I really liked it."

Knevel had spoken highly of Purdue following this summer's visit, but came away from his second visit to the campus even more impressed.
"Everything got better," Knevel said. "I got to meet the players and they have a great group of freshmen. Everyone I seemed to meet I thought I got along with pretty well. I really think I fit into their program with everything they are looking to do."
Purdue was one of the first schools to offer Knevel a scholarship, and he came off this weekend's official visit feeling the strength of the Boilermaker's interest.
"I talked with Coach [Danny] Hope a lot, and Coach [Shawn] Clark," Knevel said. "I felt they were really excited about having me there and excited about me possibly going there. They are really looking for long guys and I think they think I fit what they are looking for."
The visit to Purdue was preceded by an official visit to Nebraska the weekend of Sept. 28, and those two teams currently top his interest list.
"I'd say that Purdue and Nebraska are probably my top two right now," Knevel said. "I'd say Purdue would be the team to beat. I had a really good visit there - my second time being there so I have a better feel for it than other places. There's not really a lot of question marks."
With three official visits left, Knevel said he has been talking with Washington State, West Virginia and Wisconsin about scheduling trips. The Mountaineers are the most recent school to offer.
"I just got offered by West Virginia on Thursday," Knevel said. "I am really excited to get their offer because I was working with their coaching staff and they just wanted to get some senior film. It took my awhile to get it set up, but I sent it to them and they liked it.
"I probably am going to set up a visit with them and probably look to get that in maybe the end of October or early November. I think they have November 3rd and October 20th [open], and I'm looking at those dates right now."
Knevel had previously scheduled an official visit with Toledo for the weekend of Oct. 20, but is not sure of the status of that trip and plans to discuss it more with Toledo coaches in the days to come.
