Visit a no-go for No. 5 RB

Georgia fans were hoping that Bowie, Md., running back Barrington Edwards was going to make it to Athens this weekend to watch UGA whip in-state rival Georgia Tech. But the visit didn’t materialize.

“I didn’t get to go down there this weekend,” Edwards, who is 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, said. “I think I’m going to get down there in early January since I’m already scheduled full in December. It sure looked like a great game and the fans had a good time. I guess I would have liked it, huh.”
Edwards has already visited LSU and is scheduled to visit Southern Cal on December 6, Michigan State on December 13 and Maryland on December 20. He said he might think about replacing MSU with UGA if things aren’t figured out with the Spartan coaching situation by then.
Even though he didn’t make the visit, Edwards watched a few of the games on TV yesterday.
“I saw Maryland beat up on Wake Forest,” Edwards, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 5 running back and a member of the Rivals100 team, said. “I then watched Georgia and then I saw USC kick Notre Dame’s butt. They sure looked very good.”
Edwards said he does not have a leader at this point and the visits will be key for him.
