Virginias Top RB

One of the hottest prospects in Virginia, and one of the best, is shooting up the recruiting charts rapidly. Isaiah Gardner may be establishing himself as the best running back in Virginia.
“I think I have something like 20 offers right now,” the 5-foot-11, 185-pound running back said. “I’ve noticed that I’m starting to get a lot more attention right now. No one is getting too pushy or anything, but I get stuff from all over the place every day.”

Last year at Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem, Gardner rushed for 1,100 yards and 23 touchdowns, and you can expect that production to increase with another year working out in the weight room. Gardner is already loaded with speed as he claims a 40-yard dash time of under 4.4 seconds. His list of favorites is as consistent as he is on the football field.
“Not too much has changed in a long time. As far as favorites go, I think I’ve been pretty consistent. I’m looking at almost every school that has offered me. I would have to say my top schools though are Michigan State, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and UCLA. They all have good offenses and I could showcase my skills in their systems.”
Gardner is more advanced than most backs in high school, in that not only can he run the ball, but he’s a good blocker and pass catcher as well. Expect him to be utilized by the coaches at Salem at receiver at times and he’ll definitely catch some balls out of the backfield.
“With so many schools offering me, and with me looking at so many, it’s almost impossible to know when I’ll make my decision. I probably won’t wait until signing day to decide, but the decision may not come in the near future.”
