Virginias top player takes second trip

Hampton (Va.) Phoebus cornerback Phillip Brown took his second official visit this past weekend and came away quite impressed.
"I went down to Clemson and it was cool," said the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder. "I hung out with a bunch of players and recruits and they have a few guys just like me, a bit cocky and sure of themselves. I like that."

Brown was hosted by super freshman Justin Miller and the two hit it off.
"They want us to be the two corners of the future there and we were having some fun going back and forth with the wideouts," he laughed. "They were surprised I didn't back down, but they said that's what they liked about me."
Brown, the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia, certainly doesn't lack for confidence and isn't in a hurry to decide.
"I have Virginia this upcoming weekend and I might take NC State the following weekend (Jan. 24) after I take the SAT," he said. "Virginia Tech is set for Jan. 31."
And what of the rumors that the Hokies have pulled their offer?
"I heard all that, that hasn't happened," he said. "I still like Tech and plan on visiting. Would I visit a place or be interested in a place that pulled my offer?"
Brown doesn't want to name a leader.
"I was misquoted the other day in a newspaper article saying that I was leaning to Maryland," he said. "I'm just going to say that Maryland, Clemson, UVA and Tech are all even with NC State behind them."
