Virginias top player commits

Hampton (Va.) Phoebus defensive back Phillip Brown made his decision today and committed to one lucky school.
"I committed to Virginia this morning," said Brown. "I just felt more comfortable with them and with all the rumors and things going around, they always stuck with me. They talked more about my academics and getting me graduated than how great a football player I was. That was important to me."

Brown, who is the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia, chose UVA over Virginia Tech, Maryland, Clemson, NC State and a slew of other offers.
"Coach (Mike) London (recruiting coordinator at UVA) was a huge part of it," he said. "He came down to see me last night and really talked with me and my mom about academics and moving on in my scholastic career as well as my football career. He told me that they don't take chances with academics, that if I go to Virginia, I'll graduate."
Brown is also a standout wide receiver and special teams player. He takes his official visit to UVA this weekend and plans on calling the other schools today to let them know his decision. He had been scheduled to visit Virginia Tech on Jan. 31, but said that visit will be cancelled.
