Virginia TE is close to landing his first offer

Highland Springs, Va. tight end Rod Wheeler is on the verge of landing his first offer. According to the 6-foot-3, 228-pounder two coaches from a Big East program have signed off on a scholarship. Now he's just waiting to get the official word from the head coach.
"I might be getting an offer from Syracuse," he said. "The offensive coordinator and my recruiter have already signed off. I'm just waiting on coach Robinson. He has to see my film and then they want me to come up for camp sometime soon so they can make sure of my height and weight.

"I'm planning to go there before June 21st. I hear they're a good team to go to, but I want to see what it looks like and check it out."
If Wheeler can land an offer from the Orangemen will he decide?
"I won't commit right away," he said. "I'm going to wait it out and see what else happens."
Wheeler claims plenty of other programs are starting to take notice.
"Maryland and Virginia have been picking it up and I'm starting to get stuff from Marshall, Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Colorado, North Carolina and Tennessee."
Aside from the camp in New York, the Richmond area tight end plans to head to Virginia for a seven-on-seven camp next week.
