Virginia TE favors Hokies

Casey Turpin is one of the top tight ends out of Virginia in 2006.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder out of Dublin (Va.) Pulaski County has already received interest from the state schools Virginia and Virginia Tech.

This season Turpin helped Pulaski County to an 8-2 record. During his junior year, Turpin only played as a defensive end and ended up posting 60 tackles, six sacks, 10 hurries and six tackles for loss.
"He'll definitely play tight end again next year," said Pulaski County head coach Jack Turner. "He'll probably play tight end in college.
"He got much better this year and he's physically stronger than his sophomore year and that helps him out a lot."
Turpin is still a very young player at the age of 16.
"He's a young senior and he'll only be 17 when he graduates," he said. "So wherever he goes to school he'll have to mature there because of his youth."
So does Turpin have any favorites yet?
"He likes Virginia Tech, he is a big Virginia Tech fan," he said. "He also likes North Carolina and all the ACC schools since we're in that area."
Turpin is planning to head to the Nike Camp at Virginia Tech this spring.
