Virginia safety visits UVA

Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes safety Shamarko Thomas took an unofficial visit last weekend. Where did the 5-foot-11, 192-pounder go and where is he headed next?
"I took an unofficial last weekend to Virginia for the USC game," he said. "It was great. They showed us around and let us watch the game.

"From watching it, I think I could help them out on defense. They have a great team. I talked to Coach Pruett after the game and he called me last night. I also met with Coach Groh. They were talking about me getting my grades up and and then they can offer."
How big would an offer be from the Cavaliers?
"That would be huge," he said. "They are local and they play big teams. I would like to go there."
The two-star prospect holds offers from Louisville, Liberty, Kent State, Marshall and Richmond at this time.
Thomas believes one other school may be close to offering.
"Syracuse is picking up interest," he stated. "They called my coach and are thinking about offering me too."
So far, Thomas has received calls from Louisville, Virginia, Liberty and Kent State.
Thomas took an unofficial last week, is he headed anywhere else in the near future for officials or unofficials?
"Oh yeah, I'm definitely looking into my officials. I haven't scheduled anything yet," he said. "I'll probably take visits to Louisville and Liberty during the season and take the rest after the season."
The Commonwealth safety has helped his team to a 2-0 start.
"I think our team is going to be great this year," he said. "We've got a great defense with veterans.
"I think I'm better this year too. I've gotten better, faster, more agile and I'm smarter on the field."
In his first two games, Thomas has posted two interceptions and one rushing touchdown.
